BALLYHEIGUE NOTES – 15th July 2015

GAA WALK TO THE ROCK: The Annual GAA Juvenile Walk (Coiste na nOg) to the
rock takes place next Sunday 19th July at 11.30am; please assemble at the
Life Guards Hut. Sponsor cards have being given to all kids at a cost of
€2 per line. All your support is greatly appreciated. We hope a big crowd
will turn up for the walk on our beautiful beach.

RECOVERY HAVEN: Our Celebration of Light which was held last Monday week
was a great success. From all the feedback people were very touched by the
event and the evening raised over €1,000 for this great cause. Thanks to
all who helped out in any way and to Susan Lacey who organised the event in
Ballyheigue for us. Please God it may become an annual event.

BALLYHEIGUE MASSES OUTDOOR:

Wednesday July 15th, Keel Graveyard 8.00pm.

Wednesday July 22nd, St. James’s Old Graveyard, 8.00pm.

Thursday 30th July, Mass in Marian Park, Ballyheigue 7.30pm.

LECTURE SUCCESS: The Inaugural Lecture by Bryan Mac Mahon on Elise Sandes
was an outstanding success in the White Sands Hotel as it honoured the
memory of John Joe O'Sullivan. With an excellent series of slides the great
work Elise did for soldiers in India, Ireland and Britain was discussed
brilliantly by the lecturer.

PATTERN 'THRASHER' NIGHT: An open night will be held in the White Sands
Hotel next Thursday night as this year's programme will be launched by
Richard Casey and Danny O'Mahony. A lovely traditional night in store for
everyone!

COMMUNITY GAMES 2015: Thanks to all who contributed to our draw or played
our draughts team last Sunday in the village green. Congratulations to Colm
Carroll who won the hamper which was kindly sponsored by Moriarty's Centra.

GAA LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn at last Saturday night’s GAA
Lotto: 5-13-17-24. The Jackpot of €1,200 was not won. Next week’s Jackpot
will be €1,250. The two €50 winners were: Anthony Dineen, Tiershanahan,
and Claire & Ben O’Connor. The €25 winner was Liam Hussey, Marian Park.

UNDER-16: The U-16 hurlers were defeated by Parnells in the Co.
Championship

Q-final on Tuesday on Tuesday evening; score Ballyheigue 0-5 and Parnells
2-8.

INTERMEDIATE: The Ballyheigue Intermediate hurlers defeated ladies-Walk in
the North Kerry Championship semi-final at Ballyduff with a score
Ballyheigue 1-10 and Ladies-Walk 0-9. Team: John Healy, Owen Lucid, Ned
Flahive, Joe O’Halloran, Mark Regan, Sean Patterson, Michael Leane, Tommy
O’Connor, Aidrean Flahive, Tomas Casey, Conor Galway, Declan Quill, Richard
Mahony, Taidhg Hartnett, Mike Slattery, Mike Lucid, Brian O’Riordan, John
M. Pierce.

DIVISION 3: The ‘B’ team received a walk over from St. Pats in the Div.3
Co. League.

UNDER-13: The U-13 hurlers defeated St. Brendans in the North Kerry
Championship on Friday evening at Ardfert with a scor: Ballyheigue 5-8 and
St. Brendans 1-5. Team: Daniel O’Loughlin, Aidan Reidy, Jack Stack, Dara
Kearney, Jimmy O’Halloran, Rory Duggan, Tomas Gaynor, Graham Slattery,
Colin Walsh, Jordan Goggin, Conor O’Sullivan, Seamie O’Fuarain, Felin
O’Sullivan, Nathan Guerin, David O’Sullivan, Denis Lynch, Eric Walsh,
Dillon Casey.

UNDER-15: The Ballyheigue U-15 hurlers had a big win over Kilmoyley in the
North Kerry Championship on Sunday morning. Team: Kyle Reidy, Vince Casey,
Ciaran Casey, Darran Stack, Rory Duggan, Colin Walsh, Graham Slattery,
Brendan Walsh, Kevin Rice, Bryan Sheehan, Rickey Hussey, Darran Quirke,
Jamie Lee, Jamie Regan, Nathan Guerin, Brian Styles, Aidan Reidy, Jimmy
O’Halloran.

FIXTURES: North Kerry U-15 Championship – Ballyheigue v St. Brendan’s this
Thursday evening at John Joe O’Sullivan Park at 6.30pm. Co. Senior hurling
championship Ballyheigue v Lixnaw at Abbeydorney Friday evening at 7.00pm.
North Kerry Under-14 Championship Ballyheigue v Abbeydorney at Abbeydorney
Tuesday evening at 6.30pm.

GAA COLLECTION: The Ballyheigue GAA Club annual church gate collection
will be taken up this week-end. Your support would be appreciated.

BALLYHEIGUE GUN CLUB: A reminder to members all subscriptions must be paid
by week-ending 24th July for insurance purposes. Please contact the
treasurer.

COURSING LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn on Monday 6th July in the
Ballyheigue & District Coursing Club lotto: 4-17-18-27. Jackpot was not
won. The €50 winner was John Joe Canty, C/o Tom Joe. The €25 winners
were: David O’Mahony, C/o Macs; John Kelliher, C/o John B. and Norah Foley,
C/o Sean. Next week’s Jackpot €1,850.
